We were privileged this week to welcome Ruth Jampel (lead educator from Judaism for Schools) who spent two days with us, delivering a whole school assembly and workshops for all year groups. Year 3 took a ‘Journey round a Jewish home’, Year 4 learned about Jewish New Year and the Feast of Atonement, Year 5 had a session learning about the Torah and Year 6 gained great insight into the prejudices which ultimately led to the Holocaust and the role of the Kindertransport prior to the outbreak of World War Two.
Ruth had a wealth of knowledge to impart and did so in an engaging and interactive way. She commented on the warm welcome she received and the excellent behaviour and enthusiastic participation from the children. Both children and adults alike learned a great deal about Jewish faith, traditions, practices and history
