Visit from a Transport Planner
Year 5 had a fantastic visit from Miss Bergin’s friend, who is a transport planner. Irene O’Riordan taught us all about her job in STEM, and showed us how important transport planning is: from ensuring roundabouts are safe and work effectively to showing us maps of transport routes used in the U.K and Europe. We then took part in an activity, bringing together our Geography work on maps and our recent Maths work on area, interpreting data, graphs and statistics. This really challenged us, but we persevered and discovered trends in the expansion of the city in Las Vegas. We really enjoyed the session and enjoyed bringing our Maths and Geography work to life, in real life data analysis.
