Year 5 were given the fantastic opportunity to visit ‘The Guardian’ on a school trip. We had an amazing day, and all became published journalists! Our day of ‘work experience’ saw all children creating a Newspaper front cover. Children had to write two articles (from the day’s news), edit them, give them headings, input pictures and name their Newspaper. The standard of writing was exceptional. The teacher in their education centre said it was better than some year 7 pieces she has seen! Keep your eyes peeled for a display of all the fantastic front covers soon.
On Thursday 19th October, we enjoyed an ‘Ancient Greek Day’. In the morning, Gary taught us about Ancient Greek Geography and their politics. We then participated in workshops, such as puzzles to solve, quizzes on Ancient Greek history and mythology and playing an adaptation of chess; Athens vs Sparta!
In the afternoon, we enjoyed an Olympic games, in which 5C were Sparta and 5B were Athens. We were neck and neck at the final match, and 5B managed to clinch the title in the final game!
